Zapopan is part of the Guadalajara metropolitan area and is one of the most upscale municipalities in Mexico. Best known as being the home of the Virgin of Zapopan, an image of the Virgin Mary made in the 16th century, which was credited with a number of Miracles and visited by pope John Paul II.

Zapopan and Guadalajara are also where Mariachi music originated in the 19th century and where you can find mariachi bands, dancers, food vendors and crafts stands in the heart of the city entertaining spectators. Stroll through the colonial-era center of Zapopan and enjoy the small streets, stores, parks, fountains, plazas and restaurants.

Just outside Zapopan are vast highland fields of Agave located in the municipality of Tequila, which is famous for its Tequila fields and factories. Due to its historical and cultural importance, the city of Tequila was declared a UNESCO world heritage site. Tequila tours are some of the fun activities you can do while here which will give you a real taste of Mexican culture, literally.

While here for GFNY, take your time and explore the city of Zapopan, its neighbor city, Guadalajara, and immerse yourself in Mexican history, its flavors and traditions.

The start and finish of GFNY Zapopan 2025 will be at the Parque de las Niñas y los Niños (Children's Park), in the heart of Zapopan. Get ready for a fast route, ideal for riding in a peloton and challenging your limits. Although the maximum inclines reach only 3%, you'll be competing at 1680m altitude, which will add an extra challenge to your performance.

From the start, you'll feel the adrenaline of a mass-start GFNY race, passing through some of the most emblematic points of Zapopan and Guadalajara. As you progress, the route will take you along Avenida Adolfo López Mateos, where you'll feel the power of the peloton as you race from North to South and back to North. Don't forget to take a look at the impressive La Estampida Roundabout, where the horses seem to gallop alongside you towards victory.

Further on, the historic center of Guadalajara will welcome you with its energy and multiple tourist attractions. You'll pass by the iconic La Normal Roundabout, a symbol of the city dedicated to physical activity and a point of inspiration to keep pedaling strong.

When you reach Juan Pablo II, the route will take you straight to Avenida Moctezuma, adding a new twist to the GFNY Zapopan 2025 experience. In this section, you'll feel the energy of the city and the motivation of the spectators.

The return to Zapopan will mark the end of this incredible journey. Medium route cyclists will cross the finish line and celebrate their achievement, while long route cyclists will prepare for a second lap. At the finish line, a spectacular atmosphere awaits you with bands, DJ, VIP area, pasta party, and all the festivities that make GFNY Zapopan an unforgettable experience.

LONG COURSE IS A COMPETITION: Only the finishers of the long course are eligible for category rankings and Overall and Podium awards. If you want to race and be ranked in your category, you must complete the long course. Top 10% of finishers in each age group earn a spot in the Qualifier Corral at every GFNY World event.

MEDIUM COURSE IS NOT A COMPETITION: The riders of the medium course will be provided their start-to-finish time, but will not be ranked by finish time. All finish times will be listed in alphabetical order.

GFNY KIDS Zapopan is the chance for children ages 13 and under to be able to experience true GFNY style racing with the same rules and format as all GFNY races. GFNY Kids Zapopan will take place on May 3rd at 8 a.m.  All racers will be chip timed from start to finish with the top 3 winners celebrating on the podium for all their family and friends to see.
